"Cool Chris" Blinzinger

Provo City Emergency Manager

Chris Blinzinger is the Emergency Manager for Provo City. He has held this position since 2010 and has been involved in Emergency Response for over 20 years. As a volunteer Fireman and EMT in Colorado, he responded for the County Ambulance Service and Local Fire Protection District. 

 

Chris graduated from UVU with a degree in Emergency Services Administration received a Master’s Degree in Crisis and Emergency Management from UNLV in 2013 and received his Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credential from IAEM in 2016.  He is a graduate of FEMA’s Advanced Leadership Academy 2016. 

 

Chris is a Past- President of the Utah Emergency Managers Association (UEMA) 2015, served as the 2014 Chairman for the Utah County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC), and a member of the Utah County Healthcare Coalition. 

 

Chris loves the outdoors and the Rocky Mountains provide ample opportunities for adventure during all seasons. He and his wife toured the Pacific Coast on bicycles in 2015 and he spends several weeks each year pedaling through the great scenery of the Country.

Heath Stevenson

Orem City Emergency Manager

Heath is the Emergency Manager for the City of Orem. He has been the Emergency Manager since the start of 2017.

 

Prior to being the City of Orem’s Emergency Manager, Heath worked in the Emergency Management department at the Utah State Hospital for five years. Heath has been involved with CERT both at the Hospital and with the City.

 

Heath and his wife, Lesley, have two awesome kids. He enjoys golf, baseball, football, being outside, and has never had a bad day on the lake at Lake Powell.

Mike Sawyer

CERT Program Manager

Mike’s been active in CERT since taking the class in 2015, and active in VOAD and emergency response planning since 2005.

 

Mike currently helps plan the Provo & Orem CERT programs and teaches class on occasion. He is trained in FEMA’s Train the Trainer and Program Manager courses and Red Cross’s Shelter Fundamentals course.

 

Although Mike's full-time job is managing a technical writing team, he’s also been a bank teller and a BLM (wildfire) firefighter.

 

Mike has 2 guinea pigs, 5 cats, 5 kids, and 1 wife. He is 51 and never cracks a smile. You can email him at mike@sawyerhome.net.

Megan Prue

Training Coordinator/Assistant CERT Program Manager

Megan Prue has been working in the personal preparedness sphere for over 10 years. She has a passion for personal preparedness, and is working with the city as well as her community to increase awareness of preparedness options. She is currently serving as the Orem/Provo CERT Training Coordinator.

Megan and husband have 2 kids and one on the way. She enjoys running, playing sports, discussing local politics, and making healthy foods taste good.

"Santa" Steve Adams

Membership Coordinator

I have been with Provo/Orem CERT for 8 years and being the CERT Coordinator for most of those years.

​

Previously, before moving to Utah, I was with CERT in Northern California for over 25 years with the Contra Costa County CERT/Sheriff dept.  The last of those years I was the RACES/ACDC for West Contra Costa County and controlled HAM radio communications

from West CCC to CCC.

​

I have involved with search and rescue's and enjoy being able to serve the community during emergencies and training for emergencies.
